LEGENDS

The most important thing for a composer is to speak in his own, authentic voice. This is how five person- alities who represent the entire historical scope of Lithuanian professional music speak in this vinyl record. Five legendary composers of Lithuanian musical culture presented here are Anatolijus Šenderovas, Vidmantas Bartulis, Faustas Latėnas, Vytautas Barkauskas and, of course, Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis. Their works for cello and piano are recorded on this vinyl by cellist Gleb Pyšniak and pianist Rokas Zubovas.

GOING TOWARDS PEACE

They seem to be looking for ways to find a way to spiritual balance in an extremely intense, aggressive everyday life, which is why the authors – Rokas Zubovas and Phil Von – of the project called it “Going towards peace” (“Eiti ramybėn”). Recordings from the programme were used for the sound design of the interactive virtual reality installation “Trail of Angels” (“Angelų takais”), based on the paintings of M.K. Čiurlionis, which has won several international awards.

Rokas Zubovas (piano) and Phil Von (electronics, voice): “Eiti ramybėn”. Concert at St. Catherine’s Church. Vilnius. 2021.
